If you want to send money to your CAFCU accounts from another bank or credit union, here's what you'll need to do.
Once you've downloaded CAFCU's digital banking app, log in and go to More > Transfer & Pay > Transfers
.
Then, choose Add Account to set up transfers to and from another institution.
Make sure you have the other institution's routing number and your account number at hand.
You may be asked to verify your identity with a text or call.
Complete a Penny Test
As a security measure, you cannot transfer funds to or from this account until it has been confirmed.
Confirmation typically requires the penny test (aka penny drop or penny transfer) to verify your bank and ensure the integration between CAFCU and the other institution is set up securely. We will send two (2) deposit transactions to the external bank account. It may take up to three business days to appear in the transaction history.
After you've initiated the Penny Test, follow these steps to confirm your external account:
- Go into the external account and find out the two amounts by looking in your recent transactions in the account.
- Log into CAFCU's digital banking. You should see a notification that says confirm trial deposits.
- Tap to confirm the account
- Enter the amounts.
- You're all set!
